A delegation is a grouping of several local communities that does not meet the requirements for a province. (Normally a province entails sufficient personnel, suitable vocation and formation programs and long-term financial stability.) In special cases, a single unit may be established as a delegation.

Due to the flexibility built into their structure, delegations are able to address the specific needs of our sisters from a particular unit, mission, province or country. The members of the concerned unit are active participants in the process of establishing a delegation.
A province delegation is established by the provincial superior/s with the consent of her/their council, in consultation with the superior general, and in accordance with approved guidelines. The approval of the superior general with the consent of her council is required.

The rights and duties of the delegation superior are specified by the superior general in the letter of appointment.

The purpose of the structure is to provide a nurturing and supportive atmosphere to the sisters so that they respond fully and freely to the needs of the Church and society. The main focus of the internal governance structure will always be the following:
